Infinite Campus & SLOs

SLO Scores must be entered into Infinite Campus immediately after testing is completed for ALL your classes that needed a PRE or a POST SLO during the term offered.

SLO Administration Guide

Yearlong (A/B Courses): PRE SLO is administered at the start of the first semester in August. Scores entered in Campus for your A section during term 1-1.  POST SLO is administered before the end of the second semester in May. Scores entered in Campus for your B section during term 2-2.

Block Courses (9 week and 18 week):  PRE SLO is administered at the start of that term and the POST SLO is administered before the end of that term.

18 week semester courses: 1st semester: Pre is given in August/Post is given in December.

18 week semester courses: 2nd semester: Pre is given in January/ Post is given in May.

9 week courses: 1st semester: Pre is given at the beginning of the 2nd term in October(1-2)/Post is given before the end of the term in December (1-2). The same procedure is followed for the 3rd term (2-1) nine week courses that begin in January.

Teachers and SLOs in DeKalb County

  • SLO assessments are given within VERGE [powered by itsLearning] for ALL PRE and POST SLOs beginning August 2016.

  • Teachers will activate their SLOs as needed for their class sections, assess their students, and obtain their scores for either the Pre or Post SLO from VERGE.

  • Directions for generating your SLO score report from VERGE are linked here.

  • Scores must then be entered into Infinite Campus immediately after your classes have completed all testing and you have generated the score report from VERGE.

Teachers must assess their students for SLO courses in a timely manner based on the length of the term for the courses.

  • Elementary: Yearlong SLO courses give the PRE SLO at the beginning of the year and the POST SLO is given before the end of the year.

  • Middle: 9 week and 18 week courses give the PRE at the start of the term and the POST at the end of that term.

  • High: 9 week and 18 week courses give the PRE at the start of the term and the POST at the end of that term. Any yearlong SLO courses assess the PRE at the start of the year and the POST before the end of the year.

ALL Teachers should have TWO growth measures for the SLO courses they teach.

Administrators and SLOs in DeKalb County

  • Administrators should identify the SLO courses that will be assessed for their school at the start of the year. This information is identified in Infinite Campus by the Assistant Principal for Instruction at the start of the year.

  • APIs should identify each course section for a SLO course that will be assessed in the Section details within Campus.

  • APIs should ensure that the teachers administer the SLO assessments and immediately enter their scores into Campus using the directions provided here.

Override Codes for SLO courses in Campus

  1. Code 904: Only GAA students are coded and administered an Alternate SLO for their Language Arts section which is reported through a separate spreadsheet to the DOE. If a Language Arts section contains ALL GAA students, then that section should be coded 904 (Alternate SLO given). If only select students in that class section are GAA, then they are individually coded 904 through Grading by Task and given the alternate SLO. Do not code any other course other than the Language Arts section with 904. GAA students can take the other SLOs for their PE, Art, Music, etc. courses if they are given. If they cannot take those SLOs, code them individually as 907 for not assessing these students. Note: ALL .8 courses are not all GAA students, so gather your information from Campus under Ad Hoc Reporting>Data Export>L1_Asst Leadership folder>GAA Students.

  2. Code 907: Use this code at the section level for every SLO course that you are NOT assessing. The sections must be coded NO and the override code entered is 907. [Examples: ES teachers are only giving the SLOs to Math and Language Arts sections, then the Science and Social Studies sections for these teachers must be coded 907 at the section level. Middle and High teachers teach multiple courses that have SLOs, they would administer SLOs to two of the courses making sure to include ALL sections of those courses. However, the other SLO course(s) would not give the SLO so their sections are coded 907.]

  3. Code 906: The code 906 is used liberally where the SLO course is a yearlong term. A PRE SLO is given at the start of the year and the course override code to be entered is 906Post: Post measure not given this marking period. The Post SLO is given to the second semester section and that course is coded with 906Pre: Pre measure not given this marking period.  A Block course of either 9 weeks or 18 weeks will give the PRE and POST during that term and should not be given an override code as a Pre and Post score will be entered into Campus.

  4. Remaining Codes: These codes are keyed at the student level in Campus for the reasons shown below.

    1. Code 900: student transferred in or out of the district (explains why there is no score)

    2. Code 901: student transferred to or from another school in the district

    3. Code 902: student's schedule changed/outside the testing window

    4. Code 903: student is hospital/homebound or IEP home placement

    5. Code 905: student is repeating the course

    6. Code 908: testing irregularity (should be reported immediately to Nicole Harper) [Examples: student refuses to take the SLO, Teacher refuses to administer the SLO as required.]

Pre Kindergarten  courses:

  • ALL PK.001, PK.002, PK.003 and PK.004 use Bright from the Start to assess their students using a rubric scale. The PRE SLO score for all of these sections and students should be entered as a 1. This is the baseline to be used for all PK students.

  • The spring assessment using Bright from the Start  is calculated and entered into Campus for the POST SLO score. The rubric scale ranges from 1-5 and based on the child's growth for the those assessed skills, teachers will enter the POST SLO score as follows based on this assessment:

    • Score 1-2: Low

    • Score 3: Expected

    • Score 4-5: High

  • Students will increase 2 levels/indicators to show expected growth.
